First Time Worshippers

Due to the international setting of our congregation, our worship services are designed to appeal to a broad range of Christians from around the world. It is our experience that traditional Methodist Services with hymns, kneeling at communion and for prayer are common to many countries and cultures. So while the liturgy may be traditional, the preaching, the energy and the soul of First UMC is fully contemporary and appropriate to mission and ministry in the Silicon Valley.

We would love for you to join us for one of our worship services. We think you'll discover for yourself the excitement that's at FUMC.

For your first visit...

If you have children:

Drop them off before the service. Follow the signs to find the nursery, where caring, trained and background-screened staff will care for infants and toddlers. We encourage children to join us in worship. Activities are provided for preschoolers at the 9:00AM worship celebration, and Sunday School for preschool through college is offered during the 10:30AM worship celebrations.

Once you enter a Worship service:

An usher will hand you a bulletin. Please fill out an attendance registration form so we can acknowledge your presence and help you connect with our church's ministries.

After worship:

Refreshments are served in the patio. Please join us; we would enjoy getting to know you.

Q: What should we wear?

A: At our Sunday gatherings you will see everything from jeans to suits. Most come casually dressed. It's up to you!

Q: Will I be asked to give money?

A: At Sunnyvale United Methodist Church we never ask our guests to give anything... simply enjoy the worship and teaching that is offered as a gift from our family to you. Of course you can make an offering if you wish, but none will ever be expected. That is the responsibility of our members and regular attenders.
