Fill a shoebox for Operation Christmas Child

by | Sep 15, 2026 | Opportunities to Serve

Operation Christmas Child is a project of Samaritan’s Purse, an international relief organization. Their mission is to provide local partners around the world with shoeboxes filled with small toys, hygiene items, and school supplies as a means of reaching out to children in their own communities with the Good News of Jesus Christ. They ship these simple kits outside the United States to children affected by war, poverty, natural disaster, famine, and disease; and to children living on Native American reservations in the U.S.

Starting September 13th, after worship and during fellowship time, someone from Church and Society will be in the courtyard handing out shoeboxes and a list of suggested gift items for boys and girls, and a list of things not to put in the boxes. It is especially important to include some basic school supplies.

As you fill the shoebox with items for the child, imagine the look on their face when they see what’s in the box. Have fun filling that box. The filled shoeboxes should be returned by November 1 at the latest.
